{"id":15403,"date":"2020-02-20T17:00:45","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T16:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/letmino.ai\/blog\/eduteca-a-platform-that-promotes-reading-habits-in-educational-centers-in-the-balearic-islands\/"},"modified":"2020-02-20T17:00:45","modified_gmt":"2020-02-20T16:00:45","slug":"eduteca-a-platform-that-promotes-reading-habits-in-educational-centers-in-the-balearic-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/letmino.ai\/en\/blog\/eduteca-a-platform-that-promotes-reading-habits-in-educational-centers-in-the-balearic-islands\/","title":{"rendered":"Eduteca, a platform that promotes reading habits in the Balearic Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project started as a pilot program during the last academic school year with 29 schools from the Balearic Islands and it is now available to all publically funded schools\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eduteca is a project of the Department of Education, University and Research of the Balearic Government, developed by ODILO<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The platform offers more than 3,000 titles in books, audiobooks, and educational materials in Catalan, Spanish, and English<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The platform seeks to promote collaborative reading, literacy, and reading comprehension and to support language teaching<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The general director of Early Childhood, Innovation and Educational Community, Amanda Fern\u00e1ndez, accompanied by the director of the Mata de Jonc School, Patricia Busquets, presented <a href=\"http:\/\/eduteca.biblioescolaib.cat\/opac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eduteca<\/a>, the <strong>intelligent digital library<\/strong> that the Department of Education, University and Research makes available to students, teachers, and families in order to contribute to the achievement of their academic objectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project was launched last year in 29 schools in the Balearic Islands and as of this 2019-20 school year, it is <strong>available to all publicly funded Balearic centers<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the words of the director-general of Early Childhood, Innovation, and Educational Community, Amanda Fern\u00e1ndez, \u201cEduteca is a clear example of the pursuit of <strong>educational equality<\/strong> regardless of the socioeconomic status of the student, that ensures everyone has the same opportunity to <strong>access high-quality content<\/strong> and <strong>encourage digital literacy<\/strong> from anywhere at any time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She added: \u201cEduteca is a program that takes advantage of the full potential of digital tools and the possibilities offered by a digital library to generate new methodologies that help teachers and students <strong>improve the teaching-learning process<\/strong>, and helps their families to get involved and save costs on educational materials.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K1BTLl10ggQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>More than 3000 titles in books, audiobooks, and educational materials in Catalan, Spanish and English available to Balearic Island schools<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the aim of supporting teachers, students and families of the public centers of the Balearic Islands, more than 3,000 titles in books, audiobooks and educational materials in Catalan, Spanish and English have been made available to the educational community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eduteca also <strong>offers teachers an interactive platform to support reading plans<\/strong> that foster <strong>collaborative reading, literacy, and reading comprehension<\/strong>. The platform does all this while also promoting language teaching and encouraging reading as academic support and to <strong>create independent readers<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the official presentation of the project, a demonstration was given that shows that it is a tool aimed inclusively at students, teachers, and families. It is a flexible, simple, and practical tool accessible through the web and through the EDUTECA IB application and available for Android and IOS, which can be used from different digital devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eduteca is also an excellent platform for<strong> reading comprehension and management of reading plans by teachers<\/strong>. It provides a space where teachers can propose compulsory or optional readings, in addition to allowing them to measure reading comprehension and<strong> improve student literacy<\/strong>, all in a single tool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It should be noted that this project is a key step in fulfilling the Department of Education, University and Research\u2019s commitment to promoting strategies for key information technology and communications skills acquisition in their work itinerary.
